(Untitled Bulgaria Memoir)

Sunflowers

From April of 2008 to January of 2010 I lived in a small village in Eastern Europe where I served as a Peace Corps volunteer, taught English in an elementary school, ran past fields of sunflowers, made life-long friends, drank way too much cheap Bulgarian beer, and had a nervous near-breakdown. It was the greatest and most complicated adventure of my life, and by the end of 2018 I hope to pin down and translate a small portion of that experience. In the meantime, please enjoy this excerpt: Coping Mechanisms.
